Let's talk about the NCLEX exam and the studying process. I'll admit I should have started studying sooner. I have this amazing review book by Mosby that is helping so much but I don't have much time to look at it! I honestly have spent more time looking at it during work than at home. I made a nice little schedule for myself and I am already 3 chapters and 300 questions behind.
I am so overwhelmed by the amount of studying that I have to do. I guess it is not really studying per say it is just reviewing so that the topics come back to the front of my mind. I remember almost everything I am reviewing which is good. I am also doing decently well on the questions. Every once in a while I get irritated at the way a question is written and get it wrong. However, I need to get used to that because that is how the board of examiners writes its questions.
I have been working every week day at WT and also Tuesday nights here too. I also have been working some Saturday mornings for Weight Watchers. I know I should not be working so much but I really could use the money, especially since I don't have a job come September. Anything I made this summer is it. It has to last me until I can find a nursing job.
About a job... I have applied to so many jobs and am basically desperate for something. I will take anything at this point. However, I know that I won't be happy in any thing other than L+D/OB. I know I should do a medical-surgical position for a while but it makes me nervous because it isn't what I want so I don't know much about it. I think I might enjoy something like a PACU because I have worked with c-section patients and also I have never worked with more than 2 patients at time. I am very organized and have good time management but that scares me! Also, I really want the support of a new-graduate nursing program. But, I know that most of those are already full.
So, the countdown is at 17 days. I am hoping that after that I can finally relax and possibly find a job because I most likely will have my license just like a few of my friends have already done!
P.S. Does anyone actually read this? I bet no one even does!
Happy new year!
